Author description

Since 1981, Jay A. Levy, M.D., and his group at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), have focused on biologic, immunologic, and molecular studies of HIV. Dr. Levy was one of the first to identify the AIDS virus. His researchhas greatly contributed to the understanding of viral and immunologic features of HIV pathogenesis, including factors associated with long-term survival and approaches for developing an HIV vaccine. Dr. Levy is Professor of Medicine, Director of the Laboratory for Tumor and AIDS Virus Research, and Research Associate at the Cancer Research Institute, UCSF.
